അവതാര് കാണാന് ശരിക്കും വൈകി. ത്രീഡി തന്നെ കാണണമെന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നതിനാല് എറണാകുളത്തുപോയിക്കാണാനാണു കാത്തിരുന്നത്. രണ്ടുതവണ കോട്ടയത്തുനിന്ന് എറണാകുളത്തെത്തിയപ്പോഴും തിയറ്ററിനു പുറത്തേക്കു കവിഞ്ഞുകിടന്ന തിരക്കുകണ്ട് ഭയന്ന് മാറിപ്പോയി. ഒടുവില് മൂന്നാംതവണ, അമ്പതാംനാളിനുശേഷമെത്തിയപ്പോഴും, സത്യംപറഞ്ഞാല്, പൊടി സ്വാധീനമുപയോഗിക്കേണ്ടിവന്നു, ടിക്കറ്റ് കിട്ടാന്. ഇ-ടിക്കറ്റ് തരാക്കാന് കഴിയാതെപോയതാണ് ഇത്രയും പ്രയാസത്തിനു ഹേതു. അതവിടെ നില്ക്കട്ടെ. എന്തായാലും കണ്ടു. എന്നിട്ട്?
ചിത്രം കണ്ടിട്ട് ചില ചോദ്യങ്ങളാണു മനസ്സില് തോന്നിയത്. അതിവിടെ കുറിക്കുന്നു.
ഇതാണോ ലോകം മുഴുവന് മനുഷ്യര് കണ്ട് അന്തംവിട്ട് കുന്തംമറിഞ്ഞ് നിലംപരിശായിരിക്കുന്ന ചിത്രം. കാമറൂണും പത്രക്കാരും മറ്റുമല്ലാതെ സാധാരണ സിനിമാക്കാണികളാരെങ്കിലും ഇതിനെ ഇന്നുവരെ പരിചയിച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്ത ഒരു വിസ്മയമായി പറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടോ? ഈ ചിത്രത്തിന്റെ വിജയവും ഇതുണ്ടാക്കിയ തരംഗവും സത്യം പറഞ്ഞാല് കേവലം മാദ്ധ്യമസൃഷ്ടിയല്ലേ?. അവതാറിന്റെ കുറ്റംപറഞ്ഞാല് സ്വയം മോശക്കാരനാകുമോ എന്ന ഹിപ്പോക്രിസി നിറഞ്ഞ ചിന്ത മാറ്റിവച്ച് കാണികള് സത്യസന്ധമായി പറയാന് തീരുമാനിച്ചാല് ഈ ചിത്രമൊരു മഹാവിസ്മയമാണെന്ന് എത്രപേര് പറയും?
ഇനി അതുംപോകട്ടെ, ആ വിചിത്രഗ്രഹത്തിലെ ആളുകള്ക്ക് സ്വന്തമായി ഒരു ഭാഷയുണ്ടല്ലോ. അവരില് ചിലര് മാത്രം നല്ല അമേരിക്കന് ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് പറയുന്നതെങ്ങനെ? അവരെന്താ പെന്സില്വാനിയ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിലാണോ എം.എ. പഠിച്ചത്?
സാങ്കേതികവും മാനുഷികവും കലാപരവുമായ എല്ലാ കൊടച്ചക്രവും പോട്ടെ. ഇവന്മാര്ക്ക് ഒരു നല്ല കണ്ണട തന്നൂടായിരുന്നോ? 30 രൂപയാണ് കണ്ണടയ്ക്കുമാത്രമായി ഈടാക്കുന്നത്. 30 രൂപയ്ക്ക് അത്യാവശ്യം നാലഞ്ചുമാസം ഉപയോഗിക്കാവുന്ന കണ്ണടച്ചട്ടം ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്ന നാടാണ് ഇന്ത്യ. ഇവിടെ ഈ കടലാസുചട്ടം വേണ്ടിയിരുന്നോ?. പണ്ട് കുട്ടിച്ചാത്തന് കാണാന് തന്ന കണ്ണട ഇതുവച്ചുനോക്കുമ്പോള് എത്ര നന്നായിരുന്നു. അവതാറിന്റെ സുഗമമായ കാഴ്ചയെ കണ്ണട വലിയ അസ്വസ്ഥതയുണ്ടാക്കിനശിപ്പിച്ചില്ലെന്നു സത്യസന്ധമായി എത്രപേര്ക്കു കഴിയും? ഏതു തരക്കാര്ക്കും വയ്ക്കാനാകുംവിധമുള്ള ഇലാസ്റ്റിക് കാലുകളായിരുന്നില്ലേ ഭേദം? ഇത്രയും വലിയ സാങ്കേതികമേന്മ പറയുന്നവര്ക്ക് ഇത്രയും സാങ്കേതികപരാധീനതയുള്ള കണ്ണടയേ ഉണ്ടാക്കാന് കഴിഞ്ഞുള്ളുവോ?.. (ഭാവി ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്ന ടെര്മിനേറ്ററില് ജെയിംസ് കാമറൂണ് എന്ന ഈ മഹാനായ സാങ്കേതികജ്ഞാനി മൊബൈല് ഫോണ് ഉള്പ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടില്ല. 2010 എന്ന ഭാവിവര്ഷമോ മറ്റോ ആണ് എണ്പതുകളിലെത്തിയ ആ ചിത്രം കാട്ടുന്നത്. അന്ന് മൊബൈല് ഇല്ല. അധികം വൈകാതെ വന്ന് 2010ല് സമ്പൂര്ണ്ണമായും ജനകീയമായിമാറിയ സെല്ഫോണ് കണ്ടുപിടിക്കുമെന്ന് ആലോചിക്കാന് പോലും കാമറൂണിന് കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. ആ ആശാന്റെ ഈ ഭാവിചിത്രവും അതോര്ക്കുമ്പോള് ചിരിവരുത്തുന്നുണ്ട്) അമേരിക്കക്കാര്ക്കും ഇതേ കണ്ണടയാണോ കൊടുത്തത്? അതോ, ഇത് ഇന്ത്യന് മൂന്നാംലോക കാണികള്ക്കുള്ള തട്ടിപ്പുകളിപ്പാട്ടമോ?…
പണ്ട് ത്രീഡി വിസ്മയം വന്നപ്പോള്ത്തന്നെ ഇതൊരു വെറും വിലകുറഞ്ഞ കളിക്കോപ്പാണെന്ന് ചലച്ചിത്രവിദഗ്ദ്ധര് പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു. അതു ചലച്ചിത്രലോകെ ശരിവച്ചതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ത്രീഡി വലിയ അനുഗാമികളെ ഒരു ഭാഷയിലും സൃഷ്ടിക്കാതിരുന്നത്. അതേ വിലകുറഞ്ഞ കളിക്കോപ്പെടുത്ത് മോശമായി കൈകാര്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുക മാത്രമല്ലേ കാമറൂണ് ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്? 15 വര്ഷംകൊണ്ട് സൃഷ്ടിച്ച ഈ സാധനം കണ്ടിട്ട് എന്തെങ്കിലും വികാരപരതയോ വിസ്മയമോ വിവേകികള്ക്കുണ്ടാകുമോ?
പി.എസ്. – മൈ ഡിയര് കുട്ടിച്ചാത്തനെന്ന ത്രീഡിയിലൂടെ ഇതിന്റെ പത്തിരട്ടി വിസ്മയംവിരിയിച്ച പ്രിയ ജിജോ… അങ്ങയുടെ മുന്പില് മുതുകുവളച്ചുനിന്ന് വന്ദനം പറയാനുള്ള യോഗ്യതയേ ഈ ജെയിംസ് കാമറൂണിനുള്ളൂ…. അതു മൂന്നുവട്ടം ഉറക്കെപ്പറഞ്ഞുകൊള്ളട്ടെ….
H mm..I can say what you told is at least 50% true.. and I have to say I was luckier than you as I got ticket on somewhere around 30th day, when I stood in the Que in front of Sridhar from 7.30AM..
I totally agree that the victory of the film should be partly attributed to the kind of publicity they had given and the subsequent fuss about this film .I also have same thoughts on the quality and the type of 3d glasses that the they provided after taking 40 rupees along with the ticket cost 60 ruppes. To be honest I didn’t think that the glass was necessary while watching the film. The only so called 3d effect in the film is when the holy grass blows and when the hero and his team are walking through the bushes. MDK was on the theaters before I was born. So cant really say whether MDK had more exciting 3D events that Avatar. But I too have heard the glorious description my elders about them watching the first 3D film in India in theaters.
But I have to say that it was really unfair to criticize James Cameron. Whatever one say, its almost unthinkable that the publicity and the fuss cant single handedly make a film to break all the records of revenue collection in Hollywood. It can be visibly seen that James Cameron had done justice to the long 12 years he spent for this very film. On seeing the film, you can imagine, the kind of effort the entire crew of the film had put to come up with a movie that has successfully visualized the future … The director had made sure that this film wont be considered as a genre of “Alien” stuff by inoculating human stuffs to the habitants of “Pandora”. At the end of the day, the director and his team leaves no doubt for any one who saw “Avatar” that it is a film that had spent 1500 crores for its production… The vision of the film, which can seem to be disguised for some, is something that we have to think deeper.. So more than viewing this film as an ordinary Hollywood movie with all its mix of contexts, one has to overlook at “Avatar” for the hard work it team had spent and the message that the film is tying to send out..
